Privacy policy
Collect less. Explain it clearly.
This Policy explains what Placement Compass collects, why it is used, what becomes public, and what choices are available.
1. Information collected
Placement ratings
The rating form collects the selected agency, a broad placement-relationship category, structured scores, supervision and workplace scales, policy selections, and the time of submission. It does not ask for a name, email address, written narrative, supervisor identifier, client information, school, or exact placement dates.
A random identifier is created in the contributor’s browser and stored in local browser storage. The server stores only a one-way SHA-256 hash of that identifier. It is used to prevent the same browser from rating the same agency twice; it is not used to identify the person.
Community-added agencies
If a site is missing, the contributor may submit the public organization or program name, city or community, and county. The form prohibits person names, contact details, exact addresses, and client information.
Product feedback
The optional product survey stores structured selections such as role category, county or “prefer not to say,” usefulness scores, desired features, and concerns. It does not request a name, email, agency, school, or narrative.
Technical information
The hosting and security providers may automatically process standard request information such as IP address, browser type, device information, timestamps, and security logs. Placement Compass does not intentionally attach that information to a public rating profile.
2. How information is used
- calculate and display agency-level aggregate scores and response counts;
- produce anonymous section-level breakdowns and matching signals;
- prevent duplicate ratings from the same browser;
- maintain and improve the directory and rating experience;
- investigate manipulation, security incidents, and policy violations; and
- comply with legal obligations and protect rights and safety.
Placement Compass does not use rating data for targeted advertising and does not sell rating data.
3. What becomes public
Agency names, general location, rating counts, aggregate scores, and aggregated structured response distributions may be public. Community-added agency names and general locations may also become public after the first accepted rating.
Complete individual response bundles, browser identifiers, hashed identifiers, relationship categories tied to a particular response, and correction-request communications are not displayed publicly.
Historical information
Limited historical category responses came from a previously shared anonymous practicum-feedback spreadsheet. Placement Compass uses only non-identifying structured categories and excludes names, contacts, school affiliation, cohort dates, exact addresses, and written narratives. Historical contributors may request exclusion through the Correction & Removal Procedure.
4. Browser storage, retention, and security
The browser stores a random rating identifier and, after product feedback, a local submission timestamp. Fit-priority choices are used in the browser and are not sent or saved. Placement Compass does not use advertising cookies.
Records are retained while reasonably needed to operate aggregates, prevent duplicate submissions, address abuse, maintain the directory, and satisfy legal obligations. Information may be deleted, de-identified, or aggregated earlier when it is no longer needed.
Reasonable safeguards are used, but no internet service can promise absolute security. Do not submit client information, medical information, confidential records, passwords, government identifiers, or other sensitive personal information.
5. When information may be shared
Information may be processed by service providers that host the website, database, security systems, and email. It may also be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal process, investigate fraud or abuse, protect safety or rights, or complete a reorganization of the service.
Raw rating records are not sold to agencies. Agency requests do not provide a right to learn a contributor’s identity.
6. Your choices and rights
You may choose not to submit a rating or product survey. You may clear the site’s local browser storage through your browser settings, although doing so does not delete an already submitted rating.
Depending on applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, or information about processing. Because ratings intentionally omit direct identifiers, Placement Compass may be unable to connect a person to a specific rating without enough information to evaluate the request safely. Historical contributors may request exclusion without proving ownership of copyright in the spreadsheet.
The site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 18.
7. Contact and policy changes
Use the published Correction & Removal Procedure for content requests. Privacy questions may be sent to the contact address below. This Policy may change as the beta evolves; the effective date will be updated for material revisions.
